Can't go wrong with The Great Outdoors and it is a nice Campground period with a beautiful Footbridge.
I enjoyed spending a night camping out here (in a tent) in the last few weeks of March. It was chilly, but nothing that a few blankets can't fix! The best part was that since it was so early in the season, there were very few people out, and we had pick of the site we wanted. This allowed us to be right up against the river, which was a beautiful sight! I highly recommend staying here.
It was a great camping experience. We went there early Nov, for a weekend. It was a little chilly at night but not too cold for sitting around camp fire and sleeping in the sleeping bags in tents. The weather was super pleasant during the day. The campground was clean and very peaceful with access to drinking water and clean restrooms. There was no phone/internet connection there, but it is really easy to find if you follow the Google map. There is a 8-12$ fee for each day, you can pay on site and put it in the box provided there. Trail #529, next to the campground, is a very nice and beautiful, easy/intermediate level hike. It goes under a small water fall (not in dry season) and gets you to an awesome overlook in about an hour. It takes another 45 mins to complete the loop and get back to the campground. We stayed for 1.5 days and it was amazing. There were not many people around, except the camp host and another lady with her RV from Michigan. You can absolutely find it peaceful around this time of the year.
My family and I have been here several times and we have enjoyed it each time. There's scenic trails to walk and a place to swim or fish. This is a very beautiful place. I would recommend visiting and sleep under the sky filled with stars!!
